From time to time, people from out east wonder why we like it here. Well we are friendly MB according to our license plate. That's true enough. But there's more to it than that.
Smart Metres Need I say more? We produce so much of our own electricity here in MB that we don't need to have these extra gadgets on the side of our house like people do in ON. We also pay a lot less for our power as a result.
HST on gasoline and on other services. While in Toronto this summer, we paid a whopping $1.31 per litre at the pump. Ouch! We never see gas prices that high here b/c we don't have HST!
Smog Once again, Southern Ontario had its smog days. No issues with that here. No need for a drive clean program where you have to bring all your vehicles in for testing every other year. We never have bad air days here.
Sprawl. Don't need a link for that. Winnipeg is growing as a city but not like the GTA.

Ok, so it's not exactly the Promised Land. We do have our share of cold weather, high winds on the open prairie and a few other things like flooding once in a while. But you have to admit we have some pretty good things going for us here. And the change is nice.
