Dessert Fundraiser!

About a month ago our church had a fundraising evening to benefit the church expansion project. The menu consisted of numerous delicious desserts: cheescakes, pies, cakes - all mouth-wateringly scrumptious :)

Rich closed off the evening in prayer - here you can see Steve is well into the praying while Rich is still making the most of his moment in the spotlight and chatting it up ;)

Gus gave us a report on the work itself, leaving us with the knowledge that all is going well and the Lord has had His hand of blessing on the work. Exciting!

Beschier thoughtfully assured me that there were no raisins in the desserts.

Lots of time for talking and enjoying each other's company.

Steve - one of the best MC's I've ever seen! He had us laughing till it hurt :) Not only did he let us know what was happening and when, he also directed the trivia. Before visiting the dessert table, each table (team) had to participate in the trivia challenge. He fired off Q's, all about Bible knowledge, and as teams we had to write down our answers. After about 15 Q's (??) he gave the answers and the team with the most right answers got to visit the desserts first. Great motivation - we all worked hard ;)

Besides the single servings, there was also a silent auction for "whole" desserts, all arranged temptingly on a table at the front. Rich battled hard for a Score cake, keeping close tabs on Doug's every move (they were fighting for the same cake.....) until Annie B. came and trumped them both by bidding a cool $1000 and walking off with said cake :)

Not the best shot of us, but Lisa said it was about time we showed up in our own blog, so here we are :)

Our team - Rich & I, John & son Jonathan, Cornel & Agnes. Lots of fun. Lots of laughing. Lots of trying to discuss our answers in a whisper rather than yelling it out loud for the whole room to hear.....Even stooping to pretend we were discussing and let a fake answer slip out loudly for the table next to ours to hear.......;)

All in all, a great time of church fellowship, a great reminder to keep on reading Scripture and learning from God's Word (so you can win Bible trivia games........no, there are better reasons than that ;) and a chance to all give towards the bettering of our church building to improve it for God's glory as we worship and fellowship and seek to be a light in our communities.
